An easy downtown walk of approximately 4.5 km takes you along the Kulturstigen (Culture trail) next to the Vassara River and new areas established due to the urban transformation.
A ski jump that in the 1990s was the Mecca of ski jumpers. Gällivare Municipality has an impressive sporting history in ski jumping. A history that stretches back over half a century contains great sporting successes, not least the V-style, which changed the whole sport and was introduced by the local celebrity Jan Boklöv.
At the foot of the mountain, Dundret, lies the grandest building in Gällivare: Fjällnäs Castle, built in 1888 by the mining company's manager, Carl Otto Bergman.
Gällivare's homestead area has been built with buildings from various villages within the municipality and reflects the development of the parish from the middle of the 19th century. Many buildings were moved from multiple villages between 1950 and 1980.
